Michigan Cider Fried Apples
These fried apples feature Golden Delicious apples cooked in butter, brown sugar and Michigan apple cider with a touch of cinnamon. A cozy side dish or a delicious topping for pancakes, waffles, or vanilla ice cream.

Golden Delicious
INGREDIENTS:
- 3-4 large Michigan Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored and sliced about ⅜ inch thick
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
- ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup Michigan apple cider
- Pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
Serving Size:
Makes 4 servings
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Melt the butter in a large, wide skillet over medium-low heat.
- Add the brown sugar and cinnamon and stir for 30–60 seconds, just until combined. Do not let the mixture darken or wait for the sugar to dissolve completely.
- Add the apples, tossing gently to coat. Stir in the apple cider and salt.
- Increase the heat to medium and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook uncovered for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender but still hold their shape and the sauce becomes syrupy.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the lemon juice. Let stand for 2 minutes, then serve warm.
