Search underway to find 2011 Michigan Apple Queen Applications available from committee office

(DeWitt, Mich.) – The search for the 2011 Michigan Apple Queen is officially underway, with applications now available from the Michigan Apple Committee.

Candidates must be between the ages of 17 and 23 and have a connection to the Michigan Apple industry.

Contestants will compete in a pageant on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids during the Great Lakes Fruit and Vegetable Expo.

A panel of judges ranks each contestant on poise, professionalism and apple industry knowledge.  The young lady earning the highest score will be crowned queen and participate in various parades, festivals and events as an ambassador of the Michigan Apple industry.

The winner receives a modest scholarship.
