LANSING – Michigan Apples are a featured treat at events this fall, celebrating the fall flavor and tradition of apples from Michigan.

Bank of America Chicago Marathon participants received Michigan Apples at the finish line of the race for the fifth year. The Michigan Apple Committee (MAC) is a sponsor of the Chicago Marathon, which took place on Sunday, October 10.

“One of MAC’s goals is to encourage healthy lifestyles, and Michigan Apples boast an extensive number of health benefits,” said Diane Smith, executive director of the Michigan Apple Committee. “The partnership with the Bank of America Chicago Marathon allows us to reach consumers who make healthy living a priority.”

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon sponsorship is one of the many partnerships for the Michigan Apple Committee that helps to educate consumers to look for Michigan-grown apples in the retail marketplace.

Michigan Apples are also “treats” for participants of the Zoo Boo event at the Detroit Zoo. The event takes place over the course of three weekends in October: October 8-10; October 15-17; and October 22-24 from 2 to 6 p.m.. The Zoo distributes goodie bags to each child, as well as a fresh Michigan Apple. Visit https://zooboo.detroitzoo.org/ for more information.

“Community events that reach families and health-minded audiences in geographic regions where Michigan Apples are readily available are important ways for us to reach consumers,” Smith said. “Zoo Boo is a fun event for people of all ages, and we’re glad to provide a healthy treat.”

The Michigan Apple Committee is a grower-funded nonprofit organization devoted to marketing, education and research activities to distinguish the Michigan Apple and encourage its consumption in Michigan and around the world. To learn more, visit MichiganApples.com.
