Frankenmuth, Mich. – Celebrate Michigan Apples and Bavarian delights at the Frankenmuth Festival parade. The 2004 Michigan Apple Queen and a new apple float will appear in the parade at the Frankenmuth Festival on Sunday, June 13 at 1 p.m. The float and the queen are sponsored by the Michigan Apple Committee.
The 2004 Michigan Apple Queen, Amanda Schweitzer of Sparta, along with first runner-up Amanda Morlock of Watervliet, and second runner-up Kala Winkel of Watervliet will be waving to the crowd from the orchard-themed 2004 Michigan Apple Industry Float, designed by 2003 Queen Janna Klein.
The Frankenmuth parade is one of more than a dozen events the apple industry's “royalty” will be involved in this summer.
“I am excited to ride the float as part of the Bavarian Festival Parade and am eager to promote Michigan Apples along with learning the Bavarian Festival traditions,” said Schweitzer.
The Michigan Apple Committee is a grower-funded nonprofit organization devoted to promotion, education and research activities to distinguish the Michigan apple and encourage its consumption by consumers in Michigan and around the world. For more information, visit www.michiganapples.com.
