MAC to sponsor Bank of America Chicago Marathon
MAC targets health-conscious consumers with sponsorship
CHICAGO – For the first time ever, the Michigan Apple Committee (MAC) will sponsor the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, which takes place on Sunday, October 9.
“We want to encourage healthy living as much as possible, and Michigan Apples boast an extensive number of health benefits,” said Diane Smith, executive director of the Michigan Apple Committee. “At the finish line of the race, participants will be handed a Michigan Apple to refuel their bodies.”
Michigan Apples will also be well represented at the Abbott Health and Fitness Expo prior to the marathon. A Michigan Apples fitness-related giveaway and a healthy living brochure will be distributed. Messaging in print, online and on-site at the events will complete the sponsorship.
“The partnership with the Bank of America Chicago Marathon is significant for Michigan Apples for a number of reasons,” said Smith. “Reaching the Chicago market continues to be key for us, and, reaching out to consumers who have an interest in a healthy lifestyle is also important.”
Around 40,000 runners are expected to participate in the 39th running of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Runners will be traveling to Chicago from over 100 countries and all 50 states. In 2015, there were an estimated 1.7 million spectators lining the streets from the starting line to the finish line, according to chicagomarathon.com.
The Michigan Apple Committee is a grower-funded nonprofit organization devoted to marketing, education and research activities to distinguish the Michigan Apple and encourage its consumption in Michigan and around the world. To learn more, visit MichiganApples.com.
