Annual apple recipe contest in Frankenmuth for Zehnder’s Snowfest event
LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Apple Committee (MAC) will sponsor the annual Michigan Apple Recipe Contest for the tenth straight year. The event will take place on January 27, 2016 at Zehnder’s Snowfest in Frankenmuth, Mich.
The winner of the 2016 contest will receive a round trip flight and entry into the World Food Championships in Kissimmee, Florida. The World Food Championships will take place in November, 2016.
Interested applicants can obtain a registration form from the Michigan Apple Committee website at www.MichiganApples.com/Recipes/RecipeContests. Entry forms, recipes and a $5 registration fee (per recipe) must be mailed to Zehnder’s Snowfest, Michigan Apple Recipe Contest, 730 S. Main Street, Frankenmuth, MI 48734, by Dec. 30, 2015.
The 2016 Apple Recipe Contest includes three categories: pasta, desserts and sandwiches. Prizes are awarded in each category for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Recipes must include Michigan Apples.
All first place winners will receive $100, a Kitchen Aid Mixer, 40 pounds of Pioneer Sugar, 40 pounds of Nightingale Pastry Flour, two tickets to a Zehnder’s dinner show of the winner’s choice, a Michigan Apple gift basket, and will advance to the Grand Prize Competition.
All second place winners will receive $100, 20 pounds of Pioneer Sugar, 20 pounds of Nightingale Pastry Flour, dinner for four to Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth, a Michigan Apple gift basket, and will advance to the Grand Prize Competition. All third place winners will receive $50, 10 pounds of Pioneer Sugar, 10 pounds of Nightingale Pastry Flour, dinner for two to Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth, and a Michigan Apple gift basket.
