Colleen Gawrylowicz Competes at World Food Championships
LANSING, Mich. – Colleen Gawrylowicz, winner of the 2018 Michigan Apple Recipe Contest, will compete at the 2018 World Food Championships in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Colleen Gawrylowicz of Caro, Michigan was the 1st place winner of the 2018 Michigan Apple Recipe Contest held at Zehnder’s Snowfest. Gawrylowicz’s dish, ‘Tortellini Salad,’ won her the Grand Prize, a trip to Orange Beach and an entry in the World Food Championships.
Gawrylowicz runs a home-based baking business called The Pie Lady Plus. Her interest in cooking and baking began when she was a young girl. She specializes in cake decorating and making pies, but she has worked in many areas of the food industry.
“As a preferred qualifier, the Michigan Apple Recipe Contest winner gets entry into the World Food Championships along with travel and lodging for the contest,” said Diane Smith, executive director of the Michigan Apple Committee. “We are confident that Colleen will represent Michigan well. She is a talented cook and baker and we wish her the best of luck!”
The 2018 World Food Championships will begin on Wednesday, November 7 and will end on Sunday, November 11. Gawrylowicz will begin competing on Thursday, November 8 in the opening round of the World Dessert Championship. In the opening round, Gawrylowicz will compete with 40 of the world’s best dessert designers for a chance to compete at the Final Table and win the World Food Championship.
