Traverse City, Mich. – Ashley Wright, 2006 Michigan Apple Queen, will be participating in the Cherry Royale Parade held at the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City on July 8. The National Cherry Festival draws a crowd in excess of a half million people on average. This year's festival will run from July 1 through July 8, with the Cherry Royale Parade as one of the highlights on the closing day of festivities.

Wright, of Belding, will be joined by first runner-up Jessica Rasch of Conklin and second runner-up Sarah Heffron of Belding. The “Apple Land”-themed Michigan apple industry float was designed by 2003 Michigan Apple Queen Janna Klein and will be one of over 130 units in this year's parade.

“I am really looking forward to attending the National Cherry Festival. Traverse City is such a unique town and the people are always so fun and welcoming! I know that the court and I are going to enjoy the parade and festival so much!” said Wright.

This is the 80th year of the National Cherry Festival, which is also one of the largest festivals in the Midwest. The DTE Energy Cherry Royale Parade is also televised live on the National Cherry Festival's Official Parade Network (ABC stations 8 and 29).
