Michigan Apple Juice Dip

This Michigan Apple Juice Dip is sweet, buttery and full of concentrated apple flavor. Serve it alongside Michigan Apple Empanadas or apple slices.

Recommended Apple Varieties: 

Apple Juice

INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 cups apple juice1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Makes approximately 1 cup of Michigan Apple Juice Dip

INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Add apple juice, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt to a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Continue simmering for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apple juice has reduced by about half. This helps concentrate the apple flavor.
  3. Stir in butter until melted.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cold water until smooth. Slowly whisk the mixture into the simmering apple juice.
  5. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring continuously, until the sauce has thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and heavy cream.
  7. Serve alongside Michigan Apple Empanadas or apple slices for dipping.
