Bratwurst with Apple Relish

Ingredients:
  • 4 bratwursts
  • 4 bratwurst buns
  • 8 oz bacon
  • 1 cup sauerkraut
  • 1 Tbsp caraway seeds
  • 4 Tbsp grainy mustard
  • 1 Michigan Apple, peeled and shredded
  • 1 cup Michigan Apple Cider
Serving Size:
  • Serves 4
Directions:
  1. Peel apple. Once peeled, shred on cheese grater. Mix with sauerkraut.
  2. Dice bacon and cook until crispy, do not separate bacon and fat.
  3. Add caraway seeds to bacon and toast.
  4. Add mustard to bacon.
  5. Add apple cider to bacon and let reduce to ¾, until syrupy consistency.
  6. Fold sauerkraut and apple mixture into warm bacon mixture.
  7. Cook bratwurst, put into bun, and top with relish.
