(DeWitt, Mich.) – Amateur cooks across the nation scoured magazines, cookbooks and family recipes to draw inspiration for their entries in the Michigan Apple Committee’s 4th Annual Online Recipe Contest.
Winners of the contest, announced March 1st, received a KitchenAid® Mixer. They are:
- Chai Michigan Apple Crisp from Heather K. of Troy, Ohio
- Michigan Apple Roll Ups from Tami L. of Bronson, Mich.
- Michigan Apple Wonton Cups from Debbie C. of Canton, Mich.
This contest was open to amateur bakers/cooks 18 years of age or older, in 23 states. The Committee collected 150 entries from 16 of those states, which included Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.
“There was a lot of creativity and thought put into these recipes. They definitely stood out from the others as exceptional recipes that the Michigan Apple Committee would be proud to use,” said Diane Smith, Interim Executive Director.
MAC plans to feature the winning recipes, along with the winners’ photograph, on future recipe cards distributed at orchards, farm markets, trade shows and select grocery stores.
Entries were judged on creativity, apple significance and taste. Official rules and winning recipes are available on the Michigan Apple Committee website at MichiganApples.com/sweepstakes.
