New Staff Member Joins Michigan Apple Committee
MAC welcomes Marty Head as southern regional manager
LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Apple Committee welcomed Marty Head as the new regional manager covering the southern region of the United States. Head replaces Cam Harrington, who will retire once the staff transition is complete.
“Marty will be a great addition to our team, having had several years of experience as produce category manager for Save-A-Lot,” said Diane Smith, executive director of the Michigan Apple Committee. “His experience and knowledge of the produce industry will be an important asset going forward. We are also lucky that Cam Harrington is willing to stay on and assist with the transition period, introducing Marty to the southern customers.”
Head has spent his career in the retail and wholesale arenas, with significant experience in category management, merchandising and building relationships. His experience includes 15 years with Save-A-Lot where he worked in the produce category and had close working relationships with growers and suppliers.
“I am happy to be joining the Michigan Apple Committee, and I feel this position is the perfect fit for me,” said Head. “I look forward to bringing my enthusiasm and experience to the table to continue to grow the Michigan Apple market in the south.”
Head began work for MAC on September 26, and will meet with sales organizations and retail partners.
The Michigan Apple Committee is a grower-funded nonprofit organization devoted to marketing, education and research activities to distinguish the Michigan apple and encourage its consumption in Michigan and around the world. For more information, visit www.MichiganApples.com.
