MAC Asks Shoppers to Show Us Your Michigan Apples!

October Social Media Sweepstakes Seeks Pictures of Michigan Apples

LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Apple Committee (MAC) is asking consumers to “Show Us Your Apples!” on social media, by sharing pictures of apples purchased in a grocery store, or pictures of family traditions with apples.

The campaign encourages MAC’s social media followers and fans to send in the pictures with the hash tag #ShowMIApples to be entered into a sweepstakes for the chance to win a getaway to Grand Rapids and a Michigan hard cider tasting experience.

“We want to know more about where consumers buy their Michigan Apples and what they do with them,” said Michigan Apple Committee executive director Diane Smith. “Do they have a family tradition of visiting a farm market or cider mill? Do they bake apple pies together? Do they enjoy a daily apple for the health benefits? We want to know, and we want to see a picture!”

The campaign will also help to educate consumers about identifying Michigan Apples in the marketplace.

“We have found that consumers want to by Michigan product, and many believe they are, only to find out they are actually buying apples grown elsewhere. One of our goals is to show shoppers what to look for to be sure they are supporting Michigan agriculture,” said Smith.

The sweepstakes will run from October 1 through October 23 and the winner will be announced October 30. Information and official rules for the sweepstakes can be found at MichiganApples.com/showusyourapples.
