DeWitt, Mich – The age old saying of “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” may be true! Consumer information regarding the health benefits of eating apples is now more accessible than ever.
Consumers can now visit the health section of the Michigan Apple Committee website for detailed information about apples and their health benefits at www.MichiganApples.com/health.
The health section was recently added to the Michigan Apple Committee website to provide apple-eaters with information on and discusses a variety of health issues, as well as how apples may prevent or delay the onset of various conditions.
One section describes the fact that apples are high in soluble fiber, which has been shown to help decrease the risk of heart disease in studies by the University of California-Davis. The web page includes citations of studies and research by various institutions to support these findings.
The Michigan Apple Committee is a grower-funded nonprofit organization devoted to promotion, education and research activities to distinguish the Michigan apple and encourage its consumption by consumers in Michigan and around the world. For more information, visit www.MichiganApples.com.
