Kugel Farms

Location: Berrien Springs, MI
Growers: John and Greg Kugel

Established in 1930, Kugel Farms is a place where family and farming come together. Nestled in the heart of Southwest Michigan, its idyllic location lends itself to ideal growing conditions with rolling hills, fertile soil, and a temperate climate thanks to the Lake Michigan coast 15 miles away.

It all started in the early 1900s when Grover Kugel purchased the original eighty acres and began farming the land. Over the years, the farm has grown and evolved, but one thing has remained constant: a commitment to providing fresh, high-quality Michigan Apples and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Today the Kugel family operates over 225 acres of farmland, with a diversified offering of grapes, apples, and peaches. Greg, the fourth generation on the farm, is most excited about adopting horticulture practices that improve efficiencies, reduce labor costs, and allow him to continue to reinvest in his family business for years to come.

The Kugel family grows over ten different apple varieties, but a favorite on the farm is Gala. They’ve also planted some newer varieties on the farm, like EverCrisp® and Honeycrisp. You can find their apples at various Chicago markets and retail and wholesale stores across the Midwest.
