Established in 1930, Kugel Farms is a place where family and farming come together. Nestled in the heart of Southwest Michigan, its idyllic location lends itself to ideal growing conditions with rolling hills, fertile soil, and a temperate climate thanks to the Lake Michigan coast 15 miles away.
Meet Kugel Farms:
The farm’s roots trace back to the early 1900s when Grover Kugel acquired the original eighty acres, laying the foundation for generations of farming. Despite growth and evolution, Kugel Farms has upheld its unwavering dedication to providing fresh, high-quality Michigan Apples and fostering a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Presently, the Kugel family oversees more than 225 acres of farmland, offering a diverse range of crops, including grapes, apples, and peaches. Greg, representing the fourth generation, is particularly enthusiastic about implementing horticulture practices that enhance efficiency, reduce labor costs, and ensure sustained reinvestment in the family business.
Fruits of Their Labor:
Among the ten apple varieties cultivated by the Kugel family, Gala holds a special place as a farm favorite. Embracing innovation, they have introduced newer varieties like EverCrisp® and Honeycrisp to their orchards. The fruits of their labor reach various markets in Chicago and are available in retail and wholesale outlets across the Midwest. Kugel Farms stands not just as a farm but as a testament to the enduring commitment to quality, family, and the thriving tradition of Michigan Apples.
