Sweetie-Licious Michigan Apple & Cherry Crisp
Ingredients:
- 4 ½ cups peeled Michigan Apples* sliced very thin
- 1 cup frozen Michigan tart cherries
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup white sugar
- ¼ cup flour
- 1 tbsp. butter melted
- 1 tsp. lime juice
- ½ tsp. real almond extract
Crumb Topping
- 1 ½ cups flour
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- ¼ tsp. salt
- 1 ½ sticks softened real butter
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix dry ingredients first. Combine flour mixture and butter with hands or pastry blender until crumbly.
Mix apples, cherries, sugars, flour, butter, lime juice and almond together. Pour fruit mixture into a buttered 10-inch pie plate or a 9×9 baking dish. Sprinkle all of the crumb topping on fruit mixture covering fruit completely. Bake for 30 minutes to 45 minutes or until knife slides easily through center fruit and crisp is light brown and bubbly.
*Suggested varieties: Cortland, Ida Red, Golden Delicious
