(DeWitt, Mich.) – In addition to supporting Michigan’s 900 apple growers, shoppers in the Midwest have another good reason to purchase locally-grown Michigan apples this fall!

Supporters can enter to win a family vacation for four to one of northern Michigan’s finest resort attractions – BOYNE.

Michigan Apple Committee (MAC) is pleased to partner with BOYNE on a new Michigan Apple Vacation Sweepstakes promotion, which is underway now through December 31, 2010.
Three winners, chosen from a random drawing to be held in January 2011, will each receive a prize package that includes two nights’ hotel lodging and choice of activity at Boyne Highlands or Boyne Mountain Resort for a family of four.  Activities available for selection include: The resorts’ new Zipline Adventure, one-day lift tickets to Michigan’s two largest ski areas, or a round of golf on one of BOYNE’s eight spectacular courses.  Deluxe hotel accommodations are provided in the Main Lodge at Boyne Highlands or the Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa at Boyne Mountain.

Participants must be residents of Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin or Kentucky.  For official rules and details on how to enter, visit MichiganApples.com/contests.

Julie Ard, director of resort marketing for BOYNE, said the resorts were pleased to partner with MAC on this promotion.  “We support a great number of Michigan products throughout our many restaurants and establishments, and hope to bring even more exposure to Michigan’s abundant agricultural offerings through the sweepstakes,” said Ard.

Holly Whetstone, MAC marketing and communications specialist, said the vacation sweepstakes helps promote Michigan as an agri-tourism destination.

“As the second most diverse agriculture state in the nation, Michigan produces a vast array of fine fruits and vegetables,” said Whetstone.  “It’s great to partner with BOYNE and introduce some new consumers to the bounty of Michigan produce.”
