Governor Granholm Makes Two Appointments to the Michigan Apple Committee

Lansing, Mich. – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm has announced the appointments of Julia B. Hersey, of Casnovia, and Scott W. Lewis, of New Era, to the Michigan Apple Marketing Program Committee, which represents farm families involved in growing, packing, shipping and processing Michigan apples. The committee prescribes rules and regulations, creates advertising and promotional programs, and establishes and supports research designed to improve the overall effectiveness of the program.
Hersey, co-owner of “Those Hersey Brothers” farm and the public relations coordinator for Kent City Community Schools, is reappointed to represent growers from District 4 for a term expiring April 1, 2007.
Lewis, owner of Lewis Orchards, Inc., is reappointed to represent growers from District 5 for a term expiring April 1, 2007.
These reappointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
