A Healthy Summer Treat

These Grilled Apple Crisp Packets from The Nutritionist Reviews are full of flavor, take about 10 minutes to make and are a healthier, but still delicious, dessert!

Summer is coming! I can feel it! That means putting away the heavy clothes, pulling out the outdoor furniture and firing up the grill. Grilling is one of my favorite ways to cook, especially when it is hot out. The last thing that I want to do is to heat up my house when it is already hot.

My husband and I use the grill about 4 times per week in the summer because we love the taste of the food, it is easy and it does not heat up the house. We make all kinds of food on the grill including appetizers, meats, fish, vegetables, pizza and desserts.

I created these grilled apple crisp packets last summer for a delicious dessert that is actually quite healthy. They take maybe 10 minutes to make and are a great way to enjoy a fruit crisp without heating up your home.

I used tasty Michigan golden delicious apples (but you can choose any Michigan variety) for this recipe which are rich in soluble fiber which can help to lower cholesterol, regulate blood sugar and help control weight. They are also rich in vitamins A and C and contain a small amount of potassium.

Grilled Apple Crisp Packets

Prep Time: 3 minutes

Cook Time: 8 minutes

Servings: 2

Ingredients:
-2 Michigan golden delicious apples (or any other Michigan Apple of your choosing), sliced
-1 teaspoon cinnamon

Crisp topping
-1 tablespoon butter
-1/4 cup oats
-1 tablespoon brown sugar
-1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:
1. Combine sliced apples and cinnamon and mix well.
2. Combine crisp topping ingredients and mix well.
3. With aluminum foil, create a “packet” and add in cinnamon sugar apples.
4. Top with crisp topping.
5. Grill over medium heat until apples are soft for about 8 minutes. Flip packet halfway through. Enjoy!

This easy and healthy dessert is so simple and tasty. You will be able to taste a light grill flavor and the apples should be soft and flavorful.
