WHY:
In honor of National Pie Day (Jan. 23), Michigan Apple Committee will go in pursuit of the best apple pie in the Great Lake State.  This annual tradition has become a highly anticipated event.  Cash prizes ($500, $250 and $100) awarded to the top pie bakers.

National Pie Day, created by the American Pie Council®, is dedicated to the celebration of pie.  As part of the American heritage, this day is a perfect opportunity to pass on the love and enjoyment of pie eating and pie making to future generations.

The contest kicks off Snowfest, a national ice carving competition held annually in Frankenmuth.

Michigan Apple Committee is a grower-funded nonprofit organization devoted to promotion, education and research activities to distinguish the Michigan Apple and encourage its consumption in Michigan and around the world.  For more information, visit MichiganApples.com.
