Bay City Woman to represent MAC in the Championship

LANSING, Mich. — For the third year, the Michigan Apple Committee’s recipe contest is a preferred qualifier for the World Food Championships, the largest competition in food sports.

Carol Socier, Bay City, Michigan amateur cook, will represent MAC in the Championship this year, competing in the dessert category. Socier won the 2016 Michigan Apple Recipe Contest, a food contest at Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth. MAC has sponsored this contest for 11 years.

The competition challenges cooks to create tasty, unique recipes using Michigan Apples. Socier was awarded a round trip flight to Orange Beach, Alabama and entry in the World Food Championships.

“We are proud to be a preferred qualifier for the World Food Championships and we will continue to celebrate recipes that represent the versatility and great-tasting flavor of Michigan Apples in any dish,” said Diane Smith, executive director of the Michigan Apple Committee.

Participants compete in local and regional food competitions across the country for an opportunity to participate at the WFC. The top winners will meet in Orange Beach, Alabama for a chance at the World Food title and a share of $300,000.

The event is set to begin Nov. 9, 2016. To learn more about the event, visit www.worldfoodchampionships.com
