MAC asks consumers to get versatile with their holiday recipes
LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Apple Committee (MAC) aims to engage consumers this season by asking them to share their favorite holiday recipes, with an apple twist.
Social media users can show off their cooking skills to family and friends by integrating Michigan Apples into their favorite holiday meals. Consumers can share recipes passed down from generations, or their own, new and unique ones. Whether it’s your grandma’s apple pie or a newly discovered apple stuffed pork chop recipe, MAC asks you to pass it on.
“The campaign isn’t intended to take away from traditions, but to build on them,” said Diane Smith, executive director of the Michigan Apple Committee. “We are focused on encouraging consumers to incorporate apples into their family’s traditions, maybe in some unexpected dishes.”
By participating in the social media efforts, consumers can easily share and find unique holiday recipes. When posting or searching for apple recipes, participants should be sure to use the hashtag #MIApples.
Consumers may also have a chance to win a pie baked with Michigan Apples. Michigan Apples will select one winner at random from the Facebook comments or messages. The select winner will receive an apple pie! For a chance to win, comment on a MAC Facebook post or directly message their account (https://www.facebook.com/MichiganApples) with your holiday recipes.
The Michigan Apple Committee is a grower-funded nonprofit organization devoted to marketing, education and research activities to distinguish the Michigan apple and encourage its consumption in Michigan and around the world. For more information, visit www.MichiganApples.com.
