Dearborn, Mich. - The legendary Johnny Appleseed will visit two elementary schools in Dearborn on Tuesday, May 30. He will be visiting Salina Elementary at 10:30 a.m., and Iris Becker Elementary at 2:30 p.m.

The presentation lasts 30 minutes, and follows with approximately 15 minutes for the students to ask questions. It is sponsored by the Michigan Apple Committee.

Iris Becker Elementary is one of 25 recipients statewide of the Federal Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant, which is why the apple committee selected it for the special program. The grants are awarded to get children eating healthier snacks, including apples.

The Michigan Apple Committee is a grower-funded nonprofit organization devoted to promotion, education and research activities to distinguish the Michigan apple and encourage its consumption by consumers in Michigan and around the world.
