Sparta, Mich. - Join in a race to promote health and fitness at the Flavorbest Apple Run in Sparta on July 16. The 2005 Michigan Apple Queen, Paula Fisher of Berrien Springs, will be in attendance for this event. Fisher will be joined at this event by first runner-up Emily Westendorp of Dowagiac and second runner-up Ashley Wright of Belding.

The Flavorbest Apple Run gives attendees an opportunity to participate in a variety of events. There will be a 5K Competitive Race, a 5K Fitness Walk, a 5K Team Competition, and a Children's Fun Run.

"I am proud and enthusiastic about representing Michigan apples this summer at various parades and events across the state," said Fisher.

The Flavorbest Apple Run is one of more than a dozen events the Michigan apple industry's royalty will be involved in this summer.

The Michigan Apple Committee is a grower-funded nonprofit organization devoted to promotion, education and research activities to distinguish the Michigan apple and encourage its consumption by consumers in Michigan and around the world. For more information, visit www.MichiganApples.com.
