St. Joseph, Mich. - A sure sign it's summer in Michigan: parade season has begun! The 2004 Michigan Apple Queen and a newly-redesigned float will make their debut in the Grand Parade at the Blossomtime Festival in St. Joseph on Saturday, May 1, at 1 p.m. The float and the queen are sponsored by the Michigan Apple Committee.

The 2004 Michigan Apple Queen, Amanda Schweitzer of Sparta, along with first runner-up Amanda Morlock of Watervliet, and second runner-up Kala Winkel of Watervliet will be waving to the crowd from the orchard-themed 2004 Michigan Apple Industry Float, designed by 2003 Queen Janna Klein.

The St. Joseph parade is the first of more than a dozen events the apple industry's "royalty" will be involved in this summer.

"I am thrilled to be a part of the Blossomtime Festival in St. Joseph, and I'm enjoying representing the Michigan Apple Industry," said Schweitzer.

The Michigan Apple Committee is a grower-funded nonprofit organization devoted to promotion, education and research activities to distinguish the Michigan apple and encourage its consumption by consumers in Michigan and around the world. For more information, visit www.michiganapples.com.
