WHY: In honor of National Pie Day (Jan. 23), Michigan Apple Committee will go in pursuit of the best apple pie in the Great Lake State. This annual tradition has become a highly anticipated event. Cash prizes ($500, $250 and $100) awarded to the top pie bakers.
National Pie Day, created by the American Pie Council®, is dedicated to the celebration of pie. As part of the American heritage, this day is a perfect opportunity to pass on the love and enjoyment of pie eating and pie making to future generations.
The contest kicks off Snowfest, a national ice carving competition held annually in Frankenmuth.
